In an effort to enhance user experience, Octopus made significant changes to its deployment target selection process after usability testing revealed several pain points. Initially, users faced challenges due to an overwhelming number of radio button options for deployment targets, which led to confusion, particularly around complex concepts such as Polling and Listening Tentacles. To address these issues, Octopus moved the target selection to a separate screen, introduced a card-based design with explanatory images, and clarified terminology to better align with user expectations and documentation. Additionally, improvements were made to navigation, such as adding breadcrumbs and making download buttons more prominent, with the goal of creating a more intuitive onboarding process for both new and existing users.
