Mintlify has launched the beta of Mintlify Index, a natural-language retrieval service that aggregates public documentation from more than 5,000 Mintlify-powered sites for coding agents. The system routes queries about products in its hosted documentation corpus through an optimized internal retrieval process, while unrelated questions go to a third-party web search provider, with fallback between sources if results are unavailable. Agents can receive either token-limited contextual excerpts with source URLs or searchable source metadata, then use a contents feature to inspect full pages or relevant sections. In a blinded comparison across 150 implementation-planning tasks involving 50 Mintlify-hosted products, Mintlify reports that plans using Index were preferred in 96 cases and were completed 48% faster, with claimed improvements in factual correctness, citation support, and critical-error rates compared with Context7. Mintlify says it will use beta feedback to improve the service’s cost, accuracy, and speed.
