Metabase has responded to frequent requests for a white-labeled version by developing a new edition allowing users to integrate Metabase's powerful features with their own branded interface. This version will undergo a beta testing phase in September and October, during which participation is free as they finalize pricing and feature details. Although participation in the beta does not require committing to the paid version that will be released afterwards, it is intended for those genuinely interested in utilizing a branded Metabase experience. Metabase is undertaking a project to localize its interface for non-English-speaking users, aiming to expand its user base by offering native language support. The localization process involves two main stages: translating user-facing interfaces and then admin-facing interfaces, with the help of the community due to the lack of in-house translators and funds. Languages are categorized as "Primary" if they meet certain criteria, such as 100% translation coverage, design compatibility, and native speaker approval, with committed translators maintaining updates in line with the release schedule. Once a language achieves Primary status in both user and admin interfaces, it becomes eligible for a setup wizard selection to ensure a seamless end-to-end experience in that language. Additionally, secondary languages are maintained but without the same level of support or visibility. The project relies heavily on community involvement, inviting individuals and institutions to contribute to the translations and ensure they are consistently updated, with the incentive of enabling wider access to Metabase in their native languages.
