Humanitec has introduced built-in Container and Terraform/OpenTofu Container Drivers in its Kubernetes Operator, enabling organizations to provision resources entirely within their own networks rather than relying on calls to the Humanitec Orchestrator SaaS. Alongside the existing Echo and Template Drivers, the new options can simplify deployment architecture, reduce external network dependencies, and remove requirements such as driver authentication key pairs, Orchestrator Cloud Accounts, and certain runner configuration resources. The Operator now creates Kubernetes Jobs for resource provisioning directly within the infrastructure, typically in the same cluster where it runs, although separate runner clusters remain supported for networking or location needs. Adoption is optional and nonbreaking: users can upgrade to Helm Chart 0.13.2 and Operator App version 0.28.2, then update Resource Definitions to use the new driver IDs gradually. Humanitec plans to publish migration guidance and additional examples, while its revised documentation describes the available use cases.
