GitKraken has launched Automations in public preview as a new component of its DevEx Platform, aimed at reducing manual work, standardizing development processes, and improving collaboration around code changes. Building on GitKraken’s acquisition of CodeSee, the feature monitors repository activity to trigger reminders, checklists, warnings, reviewer assignments, and workflow rules for needs such as secure deployments, critical code reviews, refactoring safeguards, SOC 2 compliance, and CI/CD quality checks. Automations is designed to be customizable for individual teams and integrated directly into existing workflows, with current support for GitHub repositories and GitLab support planned. GitKraken also plans to incorporate additional CodeSee capabilities, including code visualization, to provide greater codebase context and a more unified developer experience.

VS Code color themes can improve readability, accessibility, visual comfort, and personalization during long coding sessions, with 2025 recommendations spanning dark, light, pastel, high-contrast, and minimalist styles. Featured options include Monaspace, which combines customizable monospaced fonts with spacing adjustments; Catppuccin’s soft pastel palettes; Tokyo Night’s deep blue and purple dark mode; Dracula’s vivid contrast; and Ayu and Dainty’s clean, balanced designs. Other choices include GitHub Theme for GitHub-like styling and color-blindness support, Atom One Dark for balanced contrast and saturation, Houston’s space-inspired colors, Night Owl’s reduced-blue-light palette, and Matcha’s earthy green-gray appearance. Users can change themes through VS Code’s settings or theme-picker shortcuts, while the built-in High Contrast theme is suggested as a starting point for reducing eye strain. Themes are saved in user settings and can also be customized or created as extensions, and the text additionally recommends tools such as GitLens to expand source-control capabilities within the editor.
