Firebase has released Agent Skills for Firebase, specialized instructions that help AI coding agents such as Gemini CLI, Claude Code, Cursor, and Antigravity perform Firebase tasks with more accurate, secure, and production-ready guidance. The skills use progressive disclosure, allowing agents to load only the relevant documentation and context for a task rather than consuming large amounts of tokens upfront, potentially reducing costs and improving results. Initially focused on full-stack web development, they support workflows including project setup, Firebase Authentication, Firestore design, Security Rules, App Hosting deployment, and Firebase AI Logic integration. Firebase recommends using Agent Skills alongside the Firebase MCP server and Firebase CLI, with Skills providing expertise, MCP enabling programmatic interactions with Firebase resources, and the CLI supporting project management and deployment. Developers can install selected skills through an npx command, use them with more than 30 supported agents, and access the open-source skills repository on GitHub for exploration and feedback.
