In October, DigitalOcean launched its new Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering called the DigitalOcean App Platform. The platform is now in General Availability and aims to simplify building, deploying, and scaling applications by managing infrastructure, app runtimes, and dependencies. Additionally, several new preconfigured 1-Click Apps were introduced in the DigitalOcean Marketplace. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) updates include all new Droplets being placed into Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) networks by default for enhanced security. The creation of new Spaces in FRA1 has resumed, while it is temporarily disabled in SGP1 until 2021. Developer experience improvements include the ability to apply taints to Kubernetes node pools and updates to doctl, the official DigitalOcean CLI.
