DigitalOcean has announced that its managed Kubernetes service, DigitalOcean Kubernetesto, is now open to everyone. The service allows users to define the size and location of their worker nodes while DigitalOcean provisions, manages, and optimizes the services needed to run their Kubernetes cluster. Setup takes just minutes, and users can access a Kubernetes endpoint for deployment with any tools they prefer. The service integrates with existing DigitalOcean products, including Block Storage and Load Balancers, providing cost savings by packing containerized applications into available worker node capacity. Pricing is based on underlying resources used, starting with two Droplets of the user's choice at the same pricing as Droplets today, plus additional costs for Block Storage and Load Balancers. The service includes features such as node provisioning, durable storage availability, security, and scalability, with many more features to be released in the coming weeks and months.
