The DigitalOcean API now supports OAuth 2, allowing developers to easily integrate their applications with user accounts and providing a more convenient alternative to manual access token management. Users can authorize third-party applications with read or read & write access to their DigitalOcean account through a digital authorization request page, and can also view and revoke account access within the control panel. The open source OAuth strategy is available for the community to use, and an accompanying gem is provided for integration with Rails and Rack frameworks.

Our newest region, London, United Kingdom is now available for launching Droplets, providing innovative companies with infrastructure to grow and succeed. This expansion follows user requests and aims to support the UK's thriving tech industry while ensuring data privacy regulations are met. The new region offers IPv6 and private networking capabilities.

Today we're celebrating our 3rd year since becoming officially incorporated as a company in 2011. So much has happened since then, including going from a small 5 person team to a larger 90 person company. We've also had two round raises and launched over 2 million Droplets on our platform, with over 150,000 developers using it. To celebrate this milestone, we asked designer Simon Oxley to give our mascot Sammy some special treatment, resulting in the new and improved Sammy The Shark.
