Dagger 1.0 beta is presented as a third-generation CI platform designed to address the inefficiency of conventional systems such as Jenkins and GitHub Actions, particularly as coding agents create more frequent changes and require faster feedback. It replaces script-centric workflows with typed, sandboxed artifacts and lazily evaluated dependency graphs that can run locally or on remote infrastructure, enabling shared environments, incremental builds, caching, tracing, and more targeted test execution. The release adds official modules for common tools, workspace configuration through dagger.toml, test-level reporting and reruns, self-orchestrating integration-test dependencies, interactive development shells, remote execution, and direct GitHub and Dagger Cloud integration without workflow files. Dagger Cloud uses resource-based pricing that does not charge for idle capacity and discounts cacheable operations, while Dagger 1.0 also reports substantial performance gains for parallel containers and file operations. Although the architecture is considered stable enough for a 1.0 release, users are encouraged to test the beta on private repositories and report migration or compatibility issues, especially because configuration files and some CLI commands have changed.
