Dagger Functions are used to distill complex CI operations into discrete, containerized code units that can be shared with the community. AI models can now use Dagger Functions to generate CI pipelines dynamically by combining different functions using Large Language Models (LLM) and GPTScript. A recent demo showed how a Dagger Function can assemble a pipeline based on natural language prompts, exploring a subset of the Dagger API before constructing a pipeline that pulls containers, executes commands, reads files, and produces results. This example demonstrates the potential for extending to more complex AI-powered use cases in the Daggerverse.

Dagger Traces is a beta view introduced in Dagger Cloud, designed to assist with debugging and optimization by providing a UI to debug what went wrong when something fails, tracing what happened and when it happened. It helps optimize Dagger Functions and modules as they are authored by giving detailed step-by-step execution of the pipeline and associated telemetry. The feature includes tracing upstream and downstream operations, finding performance bottlenecks, collaborating with teams, integrating with GitHub Checks for real-time status and exact calls used, easily telling how long pipelines took to run including every step, seeing which Functions were called, and viewing detailed breakdowns in the Trace Details page. To try Traces, users need to upgrade their Dagger Engine to version 0.11 or later and create a Dagger Cloud account if needed. The feature is actively developed and requires feedback from users to improve it.

What a week! To say that we can back more motivated than ever would be an understatement. Thanks to Daggernaut Vincent Behar, we kicked off our time in Paris at the Ubisoft Office for the Dagger Paris Meetup, where over 50 Daggernauts attended and engaged in coding sessions with the Dagger quickstart and module demos. The enthusiasm for learning about Dagger was astounding, with people lining up at the Dagger booth to hear about new capabilities and the promise of the Daggerverse. The community event also included co-hosting a happy hour with Dragonfly and Scraf, showcasing the use cases of Dagger in various projects.
The week culminated with Solomon's keynote that captured the hearts of the audience, describing the 10-year journey of Dagger and emphasizing the importance of community coming together to change an industry. The event was made possible by the feedback and support provided by the Dagger community in recent months. Looking forward to seeing what new Daggernauts build and sharing their updates on Discord.
