The CartoDB team has made two new small improvements. A new basemap called Antique has been added to the collection of CartoDB Basemaps, which is a soft and elegant antique-type design for visualizations. Additionally, an improved color picker has been introduced, allowing users to select from a set of carefully chosen colors or pick any custom color from the new color picker, with previsualization capabilities in the authoring tool.

We'll be showcasing CartoDB's technology and use cases at CEBIT 2014 in Hall 16, Stand D30, featuring various maps and visualizations created using the platform. We're also participating in CODE_n, an awards competition where CartoDB is a finalist among hundreds of other participants, with the focus on driving the data revolution. We're giving away tickets to CEBIT for interested attendees who contact us at `[email protected]`, and invite anyone who'd like to schedule a meeting to learn more about CartoDB.

CartoDB will be at SXSW 2014 in Austin, Texas, where its CEO Javier de la Torre will present a panel on why non-profits should embrace data journalism, alongside Becca Aaronson and Megan Kilgore. The session aims to demonstrate how CartoDB can help non-profit organizations visualize their data, make informed decisions, and communicate effectively. Additionally, attendees can meet the team at the Spanish Booth and schedule appointments for demos. A BBQ party is also planned, hosted by Jesús, on Saturday March 8th, and will be a great opportunity to network with fellow attendees.

We are happy to announce two exciting new privacy features in CartoDB: visualizations of private tables and password protected visualizations. These two features have been under development for some time now and we know a lot of your have been waiting to use them. Today you can! This release also brings along a handful of improvements including full screen buttons on embedded and shared maps and an improved color picker. A number of our users have datasets they would prefer not make fully public but still want to use those datasets to create beautiful and interactive maps, now it is as simple as creating any visualization from private tables. Visitors will be able to see the map and interact with the data but there is no way for them to download the complete dataset like you can with public tables. This feature is in response to many user requests asking for the ability to share visualizations in a protected way to only a small set of collaborators, you can create a different password for each visualization you have and you can change and remove those passwords at any time. Maps of private data and password protected maps are available in all Coronelli accounts and larger.
