Maestro is a mobile test automation tool that allows users to create and run tests for mobile apps. During a recent talk with Dima, the co-author of Maestro, various questions were answered about setting up UI tests in minutes with Bitrise and Maestro. The discussion covered topics such as tags and grouping of tests in Maestro, adding scroll elements to screens, custom functions for input text, costs and pricing models for both Maestro Cloud and Bitrise, and testing multiple flows and iPad issues. At Bitrise, we recognize that the best employees truly embody the company values, so I spent a day volunteering at the Kedah Elephant Sanctuary in Kuala Lumpur. The sanctuary was established to provide a safe and natural environment for rescued elephants from various parts of Malaysia, serving as both a research and education center. Our guide, Zali, had worked there for over 30 years and shared the history and mission of the sanctuary with us. We learned about the importance of elephant conservation and how the sanctuary takes care of the elephants to ensure their happiness and health. Throughout the day, we interacted with four rescued elephants, including one named Ellie who had a prosthetic leg, and participated in tasks such as feeding, washing, and scooping up poop. The experience was unforgettable, and I highly recommend visiting the Kedah Elephant Sanctuary if you're ever in Kuala Lumpur.

The Breakdown Chart in Bitrise has undergone significant improvements, addressing issues with too many lines on the chart and outliers. The new features include a legend under the chart to identify individual lines, a Breakdown Table that provides detailed data and allows for sorting and filtering, an Export Data option to export data for further analysis, and a Related builds section moved to a new tab for easier access. These changes enhance the overall experience of using the Breakdown Chart, making it more intuitive and user-friendly for analyzing and comparing workflow performance.

The annual Mobile DevOps Assessment results have been released, highlighting five top-performing apps that achieved Mobile DevOps maturity by streamlining their releases, decreasing build times, and increasing automation. Reddit, Wise, N26, Tag Heuer, and Cabify are among the top performers, with each company using Bitrise to automate their release process, test new features, and ensure security. These companies measure performance and use benchmarks to streamline workflows, resulting in improved customer experience and increased success. The assessment report provides insights into how to measure performance and improve Mobile DevOps maturity, making it essential for mobile app teams to take note of the best practices demonstrated by these top-performing apps.

We launched the Mobile DevOps Assessment in 2022 to provide results that would help improve mobile teams' performance and introduce benchmarks as KPIs. The assessment was completed by over 1,600 teams worldwide, representing various app categories and team sizes. The results highlight high performers taking 14 days or fewer to deploy a scoped feature, while average teams take longer periods. The survey also revealed that high performers have less than 10% hotfixes in their releases, whereas average teams have around 24%. These insights offer valuable information on the mobile app delivery process and are available in the full report. The assessment is designed to provide quick results and can be completed in a couple of minutes, making it accessible to all professionals in the Mobile DevOps industry.

The new Pipeline Insights feature in Bitrise allows users to filter and analyze pipeline-level data, providing a more detailed understanding of app builds. The updated Explore pages now include options for filtering by pipelines and stages, making it easier to investigate specific build issues. Additionally, alerts and dashboards can be filtered using pipeline and stage filters, and certain build metrics are recalculated based on pipeline-level data, which may require adjustments to previously set thresholds. These changes aim to provide more insight into app builds and improve data analysis capabilities in Bitrise Insights.
