Aiven has released benchmark figures comparing the performance of PostgreSQL 13.4 on Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure across four different plans. The benchmarks measured write performance metrics by scaling up nodes vertically while keeping the number of nodes constant. Results showed that overall, the performance/cost difference between cloud providers favored Google. Aiven recommends users to identify performance bottlenecks and tune their database configuration, workload or hardware settings for optimal results.

Aiven has launched a Kubernetes Operator to manage its services, including Aiven for PostgreSQL and Aiven for Apache Kafka. The Aiven Operator for Kubernetes offers access to the same operations as their public REST API while allowing users to manage their Aiven infrastructure using Kubernetes tooling. It also supports Aiven native resources like Aiven Projects and Aiven VPCs. This centralized access helps focus on database administration work, making it easier to build and deploy modern software applications quickly and efficiently. The Aiven Kubernetes Operator can be obtained from the project page in GitHub, where users can follow instructions to install and start using it.
