The latest version of PGHoard, an open-source PostgreSQL cloud backup tool initially developed by Aiven, has been released with new features such as support for PostgreSQL 9.6 beta3, backing up multiple tablespaces, and StatsD and Datadog metrics collection. Additionally, the update includes experimental WAL streaming mode walreceiver and a new status API in the internal REST HTTP server. The next version of PGHoard will support local-tar backups from standby servers and parallel mode for backing up PostgreSQL basebackups.

Aiven has expanded its InfluxDB plans to provide more storage capacity, allowing users to store up to 750 gigabytes of time-series data in a fully-managed InfluxDB database. The new Startup-8, 16, 32 and 64 plans are available in all AWS, Google Cloud and UpCloud regions with CPU counts ranging from 1 to 16, RAM from 4 to 64 gigabytes and storage space between 50 and 750 gigabytes. Aiven Kafka, a managed Apache Kafka service, is now publicly available across four clouds. It allows users to ingest and read large quantities of log event data, making it easier for companies to use Kafka for streaming data and as a message broker connecting various services. The service takes care of fault-tolerance, monitoring, and maintenance operations on behalf of the user. Aiven offers several plans with different levels of performance and reliability, starting from a modestly powered three-node cluster to highly available five-node premium Kafka plans.
