Aiven, a cloud-based database management company, is offering a free trial of its PostgreSQL service with no commitment required. New users will automatically receive US$10 worth of credits to try out the hobbyist level plans for approximately two weeks or longer if instances are powered off when not in use. After the credits have been used up, the database will stay active if a credit card has been added to the service. Otherwise, it will be powered down but can be restored by entering card details. The trial allows users to try out any plan type, including business and premium plans.

Aiven has introduced new PostgreSQL service plan options based on customer feedback, including four size variants each for all plans except Hobbyist. The company has also doubled the SSD disk space in their plans and added full daily backups and real-time streaming of incremental backups with support for recovery to any point in time. Additionally, forking a new database from any point in time in the backup history is possible. The new plans include Basic single-node plans, Plans with a standby-node and automatic failover, and Plans with two standby nodes.

DigitalOcean, a New York-based cloud provider, has partnered with Aiven to offer Aiven for PostgreSQL across seven of its regions. The new Aiven regions include EU Netherlands (DigitalOcean), EU Germany (DigitalOcean), EU England (DigitalOcean), US New York (DigitalOcean), US California (DigitalOcean), Asia Singapore (DigitalOcean), and Canada Ontario (DigitalOcean). This expansion brings the total number of regions Aiven supports to twenty-four. DigitalOcean is known for its high uptime, amazing hardware, and easy scaling capabilities.
