BrowserStack acquires Nightwatch.js, the leading open-source test automation framework

BrowserStack, an online platform for web testing, has acquired Nightwatch.js, a popular open-source test automation framework. Nightwatch.js is known for its simple syntax and in-built test runner, making it easy to use for developers. Despite the acquisition, Nightwatch will remain free and open-source. The partnership aims to improve the overall experience for developers and maintainers while allowing BrowserStack to contribute back to the open-source community. The new features in v2 include support for WebDriver Actions API, a new integrated test runner for CucumberJS, and support for Chrome DevTools Protocol. A Technical Committee will be formed to ensure fair, open, and inclusive governance of the Nightwatch project's future developments.
