Finding the freedom to create a truly original photography website in Webflow
Blog post from Webflow
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced lockdowns across Europe, Paris-based photographer Julien Apruzzese used the downtime to overhaul his website, moving from a templated Squarespace platform to a customized site using Webflow, a no-code web design tool. Despite having no prior web design experience, Julien leveraged Webflow University to learn about web design, graphic design, and typography, treating the learning process like a full-time job. He designed his site in Photoshop before building it in Webflow, encountering challenges but ultimately creating a six-page site that reflected his unique style as an end-to-end image creation studio. The result was a website that garnered praise from clients and peers, leading to new opportunities in web design, although Julien plans to remain focused on photography. He advises other photographers to utilize familiar tools like Photoshop, understand the basics of typography, and learn how web code behaves to enhance their web design capabilities.
