Designing a COVID-19 vaccine visualization and tracker
Blog post from Webflow
Amid the global anxiety caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the complex race to develop a vaccine, First Person, a San Francisco-based design and storytelling company, collaborated with FasterCures to create a COVID-19 vaccine tracker, released on June 22. The tracker aims to provide clarity on vaccine development by visually presenting data on the number of vaccine candidates, their development stages, and how vaccines progress from ideation to widespread use. The project was inspired by the need to simplify complex information and make it accessible to the public, leading to the creation of a concise and thematic syringe graphic that effectively conveys the progress of different vaccine candidates. The design team, led by creative director Eric Melin and visual design director Casimir Fornalski, utilized the Milken Institute's data to craft a user-friendly site with clean, minimalistic design elements, ensuring that the focus remained on delivering clear and reliable information.
