From one to many: Migrating from a single data centre to multiple using Tyk Multi Data Centre Bridge
Blog post from Tyk
Tyk's Multi Data Centre Bridge (MDCB) offers a seamless solution for managing Tyk API Gateway instances across multiple data centers by providing a centralized control plane that simplifies configuration management and analytics. This setup addresses various needs, such as ensuring redundancy, adhering to local compliance laws, and reducing latency by routing traffic through geographically localized operations. MDCB enhances uptime by allowing gateways to continue managing traffic even if the Master Data Centre experiences downtime, and it facilitates a unified dashboard for consistent management across numerous gateways. The architecture involves deploying gateways in each data center with local Redis data stores connected to the MDCB component in the Master Data Centre, which acts as the central hub for analytics and configuration management. The migration to MDCB involves installing the MDCB in the current data center, converting existing gateway installations into management gateways, and configuring new and existing gateways to connect to the MDCB, thereby streamlining the complexities associated with multiple data center operations.
