Partyline is an experiment that transforms phone calls into sound collages for art, combining ambient noises with involuntary participation. It consists of two parts: Voyeur, which dials participants and records their inputs, and Sequencer, a responsive view into the voices going on at the time. The project was created by Casey Rodarmor and his team as part of Art Hack Weekend SF, an event that combines art, technology, and collaboration. Partyline uses various technologies such as three.js, webgl, javascript, websockets, apache, python, and twilio to create its interactive sound collage experience. Although the project is no longer active, it explores the potential for telephone calls to generate meaning and can be seen as a pioneering work in this field, with the team planning to explore this concept further in the future.
