5 Phones, 1950 Pixels: How MissionMode Hacked the SIGNAL 2017 Video Wall
Blog post from Twilio
At SIGNAL San Francisco, MissionMode hacked the video wall by using hackable hardware badges with Particle Electron onboard, which could control the massive display via text messages. The team, led by Scott Anderson, realized that automating the task of sending commands via their phones would be necessary to complete a picture before it was damaged by other conference-goer activity. They used Affinity Photo and Node.js to resize images and convert them into data, and then linked Apple's Messages app and JavaScript to unite the badges and the wall. The team's creativity and spontaneity led to an impressive display of their logo on the 40-foot video wall, showcasing the phrase "code is creative" in action.
