New IP Messaging Features: Reachability, Message Attributes, and Push Configuration

Twilio has announced three new features for its IP Messaging SDKs: Reachability indicator, Message attributes, and Granular push notification configuration. The Reachability indicator provides real-time notifications when a user's status changes, allowing developers to display an "online" or "offline" state that takes into account both online/offline status and reachability via push notifications. Message attributes enable the sending of contextual data with chat messages, such as images, ratings, and pricing information, while granular push notification configuration allows for individual control over which types of notifications can be subscribed to, including new message, added to channel, invited to channel, and removed from channel notifications.
