Teams, Organizations and Topics
Blog post from Stream
Social networking applications often allow users to follow not only other individuals but also more complex entities like teams, organizations, and topics. For example, a soccer community in Brazil lets users follow teams, while a travel startup in San Francisco enables following locations. A job-related site offers the ability to follow topics and countries. Getstream.io enhances this functionality by allowing activities to be written to both user feeds and secondary feeds using the "TO" parameter. Recent updates to Getstream.io include the automatic updating of secondary feeds when an activity is removed from a user's feed, the triggering of a fanout when activities are added, and the introduction of an origin field that provides insights into which feeds contributed content to the feed being viewed. These enhancements facilitate the support of communities centered around teams, topics, or organizations.
