In January 2020, Snyk closed a $150 million funding round to accelerate its vision of bringing a new approach to application security, which considers not just custom code but also container images and infrastructure as code configurations. A study on DevSecOps in January 2020 revealed that one in three developers do not track their direct dependencies, while one in two developers see security as a major constraint on delivering software quickly. The JVM ecosystem report showed a significant shift towards OpenJDK distributions, with 36% of developers switching from the Oracle JDK to an alternate distribution. Additionally, Kotlin has overtaken Scala and Clojure as the second most popular language on the JVM.
