Platform update on February 24th

Scheduled for release on February 24, 2015, the upcoming platform update includes numerous software updates and new features aimed at enhancing functionality and compatibility. Key updates include ChromeDriver 2.14 supporting Chrome versions 39-42, Bundler at version 1.7.13, Elasticsearch 1.3.8, Elixir 1.0.3, and Firefox 35.0.1, which necessitates selenium-webdriver gem updates. Git is updated to version 2.3 with new features discussed in GitHub’s blog, while Java receives updates to OpenJDK 7u75 and Oracle JDK 8u31. Other updates include JRuby 1.7.19, MySQL 5.6.23, Node.js 0.10.36 and 0.12, PHP versions 5.6.5, 5.5.21, and 5.4.37, RethinkDB 1.16.2, Scala 2.11.5, and Cassandra 2.1.3. The platform also introduces io.js 1.2.0 and the inclusion of LFTP by default, while Qt version 5.2.1 becomes selectable via the QT_SELECT environment variable. Users are encouraged to test the platform using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS v1502 and provide feedback before the final release.
