Our 2018 Internal Hackathon: Things Built and Problems Solved
Blog post from Semaphore
Semaphore's team took two days off their regular schedules to participate in a hackathon, focusing on projects outside their daily tasks, resulting in a range of innovative solutions and improvements. Various teams tackled different challenges, from developing new tools and enhancing open-source project presentations to improving user onboarding experiences and visualizing data. One team experimented with running Test Boosters on Docker-based projects, successfully parallelizing Rails CI builds, while another improved the presentation of Semaphore’s open-source projects by creating a Vue.js application. A different group, comprised mainly of customer success and marketing members, focused on making new user onboarding friendlier by updating documentation and trial emails. Additionally, a team beautified data visualization using Elasticsearch Logman and Kibana, and another explored using Helm for deploying Semaphore environments. The hackathon fostered creativity and collaboration, allowing participants to engage in projects they were passionate about, which may not typically fit into their regular schedules.
