All New Free Instance Types On Render
Blog post from Render
Render has introduced new free instance types for web services and databases to allow developers to explore technology and build projects without incurring costs. These free services provide users with 750 compute hours monthly and include features like custom domains, TLS certificates, and pull request previews, all designed to offer a near-parity experience with paid services. Free web services automatically spin down after 15 minutes of inactivity but can restart upon receiving a web request, while free PostgreSQL databases come with 1GB of SSD storage and expire after 90 days. The implementation of these free services leverages Knative for scaling and existing Render architecture, ensuring flexibility and cost-effectiveness. This approach allows developers to experiment with and validate projects on Render, with the potential to transition seamlessly to paid services when ready, thereby enhancing the platform's accessibility and appeal.
