Cross-Cloud Distribution System: Alternative To Content Delivery Networks

As internet traffic has evolved to be predominantly video-based, traditional HTTP-based protocols and Content Delivery Networks (CDNs) have struggled to provide the low latency needed for interactive live video streaming. Modern protocols like Low Latency HLS and CMAF still fall short with latencies around 3 seconds, which is inadequate for scenarios such as e-sports, live sports betting, and auctions that require near-instant interaction. WebRTC and SRT, designed for very low latency, are proposed as solutions, with Red5 Pro leveraging these protocols in a Cross Cloud Distribution System (CCDS) to achieve sub-500ms end-to-end latency. This system utilizes multiple cloud platforms and private networks to enhance reliability, coverage, and scalability while maintaining custom security measures and supporting millions of concurrent users. This approach not only counters the limitations of CDNs but also allows for greater flexibility in pricing and performance across different regions.
