How I Followed my Heart, Conquered Fear and Became a Public Speaker
Blog post from Pybites
Mridu's journey into public speaking began with inspiration from an enthusiastic teacher and a desire to bridge the gap between academia and the corporate world. Overcoming fears and imposter syndrome, she embraced the mantra "Have no apprehensions, leap," leading her to propose a talk on "Introduction to APIs" for a community event. Despite initial procrastination and self-doubt, she successfully delivered her first tech talk in December 2018, which ignited a passion for speaking and volunteering at community meetups. Her experience taught her the value of sharing knowledge, accepting imperfections, and learning from others, ultimately leading to her participation in a technical conference. Mridu emphasizes the importance of overcoming self-imposed barriers, the satisfaction of impacting others positively, and the continuous process of learning and teaching, as she plans to further engage in speaking events and community organization.
