What Happened This Morning
Blog post from Postmark
This morning at about 8:15am EDT, the primary MySQL server experienced an outage due to running out of disk space, affecting sending, API, and web interface functionality. The server was struggling to write data to disk, preventing automatic failover to a healthy server. After a 30-minute struggle to free up logs and space, the team manually failed over to the second server, allowing normal operations to resume. To prevent similar issues in the future, upgrades are being implemented to improve availability and performance, with more sensitive alert settings to catch potential problems sooner.
