The Developer Efficiency team was launched in July 2020 at Plaid with the goal of improving developers' iteration, observability, and foundational experiences. The team is composed of seven engineers from various teams and focuses on common workflows and processes. They prioritize three focus areas: iteration, which aims to speed up the development process; observability, which ensures engineers have visibility into the system; and foundations, which includes taking ownership of programming language support and libraries. The team operates with a mission statement and principles that guide their direction and responsibility areas, aiming to provide a polished experience for Plaid's developers and standardize existing systems while allowing flexibility for new tools and processes.
