Behind the Scenes: PagerDuty's April Hack Day
Blog post from PagerDuty
Every second Friday of the month, PagerDuty hosts a Hack Day, allowing employees from all departments to work on any project of their choice, culminating in presentations and awards for categories like Most Awesome, Most Useful, and "No Codez". In a recent Hack Day, Doug Barth won the Most Useful award with a project that implemented color-coded command prompts to prevent coding mishaps between different environments, while Evan Gilman took the Most Awesome prize by developing a hack to extend the battery life of MiFi devices used by on-call engineers. Additionally, Ian Enders created a web app for voting on Hack Day projects, enhancing the process for remote teams and earning a runner-up spot. These projects showcase the creativity and enthusiasm of PagerDuty employees, highlighting their commitment to innovation beyond their regular duties.
