New Octopus Deploy logo

Paul Stovell, the founder and CEO of Octopus Deploy, reflects on the evolution of the company's logo since its inception. Initially, he used an image from iStockPhoto and later asked his sister to design a logo that has been in use since the beta version, featuring a smiley face that could change to a frown when a release failed. Although the original logo was suitable for the initial version, its cartoony style and scalability issues prompted the need for a more professional update. To address this, Stovell engaged Corey Ginnivan to redesign the logo, marking a new phase for Octopus as it continues to grow.
