Video calls have become essential for global communication during the pandemic, but they often come with the inconvenience of managing accounts and logging into platforms. To streamline this process, a custom integration using Mattermost and Whereby was developed, leveraging n8n as a backend to create a slash command that generates a Whereby URL directly in a Mattermost channel. This setup requires specific configurations, such as setting up a Webhook node in n8n and creating credentials for Mattermost, to enable quick and easy video call initiations. The process involves creating a custom slash command in Mattermost, which uses the n8n workflow to fetch and send the appropriate Whereby link to users, thus facilitating efficient remote collaboration. The integration can be extended to include additional functionality and other video conferencing services like Zoom, offering a dynamic solution for managing remote meetings.
