Logz.io has announced early access to its Service Performance Monitoring capability, aimed at addressing the complexities of monitoring application requests within modern microservices architectures. This new service builds on the company's existing Distributed Tracing service, which utilizes Jaeger Tracing from the Cloud Native Computing Foundation to analyze request journeys and identify latency and errors. Despite the challenge of pinpointing performance bottlenecks in systems emitting millions of traces, Logz.io has collaborated with the open-source community to enhance Jaeger and OpenTelemetry, enabling the collection and aggregation of trace data to calculate R.E.D. metrics—request latency, rate, and error rate. These enhancements, contributed back to the open-source projects, have been integrated into the Logz.io Distributed Tracing managed service, providing users with a more effective way to monitor and detect system issues quickly. The service is available for early access, with a 14-day free trial offered to potential users.
