Kong Gateway has announced the general availability of its 2.7 version, which includes both the regular and open-source versions available for download. This release introduces significant enhancements in scale, security, and compliance, focusing on managing API consumer groups, securely storing secrets, and progressing towards FIPS compliance. New features include the formal introduction of consumer groups to manage API tiers, enhanced secrets management through extended encryption mechanisms, and steps towards replacing cryptographic libraries for compliance with FIPS 140-2 standards. In addition, improvements have been made to the Kong Manager UI for easier OpenID Connect Plugin configuration, alongside enhancements in routing TLS traffic and performance optimizations. The release is credited to the collaborative efforts of Kong employees, customers, and community members, with an invitation to learn more through an upcoming webinar.
