In his announcement at Google I/O 2013, Urs Hölzle outlined significant advancements in the Google Cloud Platform, emphasizing its aim to make Google's robust infrastructure accessible to businesses and developers globally. Google also unveiled Google Cloud Datastore, a fully managed service for non-relational data, and enhancements to Google App Engine, including the introduction of a PHP runtime and modular application partitioning. These developments, along with additional tools such as Google Cloud Endpoints and Google Cloud Console, have led to increased platform adoption, with over 3 million applications and 300,000 developers engaging with the platform monthly. Hölzle, a key figure in Google's engineering history, expressed anticipation for the innovative projects developers would create using these expanded capabilities.
