The results are in: Hardcode, the secure coding contest for App Engine
Blog post from Google Cloud
In January, Google and SyScan launched "Hardcode," a secure coding competition aimed at students worldwide, focusing on both software development and security. Hundreds of students from 25 countries participated, with over 100 teams building applications on Google App Engine, assessed for functionality and security. The top five teams advanced to the final round at the SyScan 2013 security conference in Singapore, where they fixed bugs, collaborated on an API standard, implemented it, and attempted to hack each other's applications. Despite balancing school commitments, the students displayed impressive skills, with Team 0xC0DEBA5E from Vienna University of Technology winning first place, followed by Team Gridlock from India and Team CeciliaSec from the USA. The competition showcased the bright future of these talented students in secure coding, according to Eduardo Vela Nava from Google's security team.
