The Google Assistant SDK - new languages, API updates, and Device Actions
Blog post from Google Cloud
The Google Assistant SDK has introduced several new features to enhance its functionality and global reach. Developers can now programmatically configure the API to support multiple languages and locales, including English, French, German, and Japanese, thereby broadening the Assistant's accessibility. Customizable device settings allow users to personalize their devices by adjusting language, location, and other preferences, enabling more tailored responses to queries. The SDK now supports text-based queries and responses in addition to voice-activated ones, addressing developer demands for diverse input and output methods. A significant update is the introduction of Device Actions, which allows developers to embed control functions directly within Assistant-enabled devices, facilitating automation through structured intents. To streamline development, a new management API has been launched to help developers register and manage their SDK devices efficiently, and a device model is introduced to represent devices with common traits. Developers are encouraged to engage with the documentation, samples, and community discussions to maximize the potential of these new features.
