Summary

In February 2015, Google announced the retirement of its Email Migration API (EMAPI v2), recommending developers transition to the more robust Gmail API, which offers enhanced flexibility, performance, and higher-level access for programmatic email management. The Gmail API was launched the previous summer and has since expanded to replace the Google Apps Admin SDK's Email Migration API. Developers are advised to complete their migration to the Gmail API by November 1, 2015, when EMAPI v2 will be officially decommissioned. To assist in this transition, Google has provided a developer's guide, and developers are reminded to be aware of other upcoming deprecations, including EMAPI v1, which will be deprecated even sooner, on April 20, 2015.
