Improving shared AR experiences with Cloud Anchors in ARCore 1.20

ARCore 1.20 introduces enhanced capabilities for augmented reality experiences through the integration of persistent Cloud Anchors, allowing users to repeatedly access shared AR content across different devices and locations. This update supports Android, iOS, and Unity developers, enabling diverse applications such as the MARK social platform, which facilitates AR message sharing in real-world locations, and REWILD Our Planet, which combines AR with high-definition video to provide interactive nature experiences based on the Netflix series "Our Planet." Additionally, Changdeok ARirang utilizes SK Telecom’s 5G technology to offer an AR-guided tour of South Korea's Changdeokgung Palace, while SJ Labs uses persistent Cloud Anchors to assist passengers at Stockholm’s Central Station. Lowe’s Persistent View will soon allow users to visualize home designs in AR before purchasing, and the upcoming earth Cloud Anchors feature aims to enhance AR content discovery using global localization technology.
