Image results now available from the Custom Search API
Blog post from Google Cloud
In 2012, Google expanded its Custom Search API to include image results, allowing developers to integrate image-only search capabilities into their websites, similar to those already available in Google Custom Search Engines. This enhancement provides site owners with more flexibility in displaying digital images, aligning image queries with web queries for billing purposes. The API allows users to specify parameters such as image type and size, and it returns results in JSON format that can be used to render images on their sites. To utilize this feature, developers need to enable image search in the Custom Search Engine control panel and use a valid API key and Custom Search Engine ID. Nam Nguyen, a software engineer working on the JSON/Atom Custom Search API, aims to simplify developers' tasks by offering an easy-to-use, programmatic access to Google's search capabilities.
