Google Cloud Platform enhances Compute Engine, App Engine and Cloud Datastore
Blog post from Google Cloud
In August 2013, Google Cloud Platform announced several enhancements to its services, including Google Compute Engine, Google App Engine, and Google Cloud Datastore. Google Compute Engine introduced layer 3 load balancing, which offers high throughput and fault tolerance, allowing for efficient traffic routing across virtual machines without the need for pre-warming. Improvements to Google Cloud Datastore included support for Google Query Language (GQL), metadata queries, and local SDK enhancements, alongside the addition of Ruby support for developers. The Google App Engine 1.8.3 release focused on PHP runtime improvements, featuring expanded Cloud Storage integration, performance enhancements through memcache-backed caching, and better task queue support. These updates aimed to enhance developer productivity and system scalability across the platform.
