Fridaygram: tech for nonprofits, immortal animal, Martian moons
Blog post from Google Cloud
HandsOn Tech, an initiative started in 2011 by Points of Light and Google, aims to empower US nonprofits by connecting them with expert volunteers to enhance their technological capabilities, including literacy programs and information accessibility. As it enters its third year, volunteers can apply to join the program, with training taking place at Google in Mountain View, California. On a different note, scientific research into the regenerative abilities of Hydractinia echinata, an Irish sea creature, is providing insights into stem cell roles in development, aging, and disease, although its regenerative properties may be too complex to apply to humans. Meanwhile, space exploration continues to capture imaginations with the Curiosity rover capturing a video of Phobos crossing in front of Deimos from Mars, and milestones being celebrated by the Fermi Space Telescope and NASA's Juno spacecraft, which has reached the midpoint of its journey to Jupiter.
