Find the hidden patterns with YouTube’s new Analytics API
Blog post from Google Cloud
YouTube's new Analytics API, announced by Ted Hamilton, offers enhanced capabilities for understanding user interactions with videos by providing custom reports in JSON or CSV formats. This tool expands on the previous Insight Data API by introducing new metrics such as watch metrics, earning performance metrics, ad performance metrics, and annotation metrics. The API supports a range of programming languages and allows users to make HTTP RESTful requests, with code examples available in Java, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby to facilitate development. Applications leveraging the API include Next Big Sound for music industry insights, vidIQ for audience development, Wizdeo's WizTracker for channel analysis, Vidyard for video marketing, and Fullscreen for managing YouTube channels. The API is set to introduce a scheduled reports feature aimed at simplifying the export of statistics for data warehouses, and further resources are available through YouTube's documentation and developer channels.
