Creating an app to help your community during the pandemic with Gaston Saillen #IamaGDE
Blog post from Google Cloud
Gaston Saillen, a Google Developer Expert in Android and Firebase, created the Uh-La-La! app, a food delivery platform that significantly benefited his local community in Cordoba, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when many restaurants struggled to maintain sales. Initially inspired by a conversation with a local food truck operator, Gaston developed the app to fill a gap in the town's food delivery services, allowing restaurants to configure it themselves without any fees. His efforts resulted in the app becoming the sole food delivery service in the area, quickly gaining traction and expanding to nearby towns. In addition to his development work, Gaston is actively involved in the Google Developer community, contributing through blog posts, YouTube videos, and courses, while fostering a collaborative environment among developers. He plans to further develop Uh-La-La! and explore new app ideas, like a coworking space reservation app, while advising upcoming developers to embrace challenges as learning opportunities.
