Announcing the Newest Addition to MLKit: Entity Extraction

In December 2020, ML Kit expanded its capabilities by introducing the Entity Extraction API, which enhances user experience in mobile apps by detecting and locating entities from raw text in real-time and static contexts, supporting 11 entities and 15 languages. This API builds on the technology from the Smart Linkify feature in Android 10+, utilizing neural network models to classify entities like addresses, phone numbers, and more, while allowing developers to manage language-specific models on devices. TamTam, an early access partner, has successfully integrated this API to provide contextual suggestions in chat applications. Additionally, the announcement highlighted the introduction of the Selfie Segmentation API, designed to separate backgrounds from scenes in real-time, offering developers on Android and iOS the ability to add effects to camera experiences efficiently.
