AMP stories: Bringing visual storytelling to the open web
Blog post from Google Cloud
AMP stories introduce a visually rich, mobile-focused storytelling format as part of the AMP Project, aimed at enhancing news consumption on mobile devices by using immersive images, videos, and graphics. Developed collaboratively by Google and various publishers such as CNN, Conde Nast, and The Washington Post, this format seeks to minimize technical challenges and allow creators to focus on storytelling while leveraging AMP's fast performance on the mobile web. With preset layout templates and standardized UI controls, AMP stories offer editorial freedom for content creators to craft engaging narratives that reflect their brand, while benefiting from optimized video loading and caching for better user experience. Available for public use, AMP stories can be easily integrated into websites and discovered through Google Search, with plans to expand their presence in other Google products.
