Using GitLab to project manage home renovation priorities
Blog post from GitLab
Last summer, a couple decided to use GitLab Issue Boards to organize and prioritize their home renovation projects after purchasing a new house. They initially made small improvements, like replacing carpets with wood floors and adding built-in shelves, but faced challenges in managing larger renovation ideas. The author, familiar with GitLab from previous work, identified its Issue Boards as a suitable tool for collaboration with his wife, allowing them to track renovation priorities across platforms. They set up a GitLab group to house their projects, created labels like "P1" for top priorities and "DIY Possibility" for tasks they might complete independently, and used customizable columns to organize tasks. This approach helped them manage both minor and major projects, such as a water heater replacement and window repairs, while also considering budget and time constraints. The author found this application of GitLab Issue Boards outside the development space to be an innovative solution and encouraged others to share their unique uses of GitLab's features.
